I've currently been slowly playing through Pokemon Sapphire on my iPad using an emulator. I'd never played a gen 3 game before (my first Pokemon game was Soulsilver) and I'm not as super well versed in Pokemon as some people I've seen on the internet so I'm a bit surprised that it's actually fairly hard compared to the games I'm used to.
Since I usually choose a fire starter 8 times out of 10 I ended up choosing Torchic, not realizing that the first gym was a rock type gym…so I'm kinda worried now lol. I really had to grind a bit before trying to attempt it (thankfully I pulled off a last second win!) Also idk if it's just me, but it feels as if the older games were a lot less generous with xp (it took quite some time to level up my Ralts to finally gain an attack move) Also the whole "water moves are special attack" thing is confusing and unnecessary tbh.
*Apologies to any gen 3 stans for this next part (I don't mean any offense)*
Even though there are a few gen 3 pokemon that I like (off the top of my head Skitty and Ralts for example) I have to admit I don't really like many of the gen 3 Pokemon designs. I don't know why though. I know Hoenn is a fan favourite of a lot of people in the fandom but it's probably one of my least favourite gens (maybe it's simply because gen 4 is the one I grew up with = nostalgia?) Again no disrespect to any Hoenn fans but I just don't really dig the designs :/
Other things I'm doing:
- Currently working on another zine! This one's dedicated to Adventure Time and everything it means to me. Hopefully I'll get it done by the end of the month.
- Trying to listen to more audiobooks on Spotify. Weirdly enough my undiagnosed ADHD brain actually does better when reading print books vs. audio but since there's tons of free books that comes with my Spotify subscription I figured I should take advantage of it right?
