Lil nervous about writing this but here goes:

A few weeks ago, art YouTuber Jazza posted a video on how his stance on AI has changed from positive, to neutral, to very negative over the last few years.

I'm currently going through something similar. I wouldn't say I was exactly "pro AI" in the past but I did enjoy playing around with it for fun in the past (i.e. Artbreeder, watching funny song covers on YouTube) and using it for background images since I really struggle drawing backgrounds and cityscapes for a couple of pieces which I really feel awful about (I'm not proud of it either).

(Don't worry, I HAVE SWITCHED TO USING PHOTOGRAPHS AND COLLAGES SINCE THEN!! Never again, I SWEAR)

But I've pretty much come to the same conclusion that Jazza did. It's actually getting so terrifying nowadays because it's getting harder and harder to figure out what's real vs. what's AI. Not even cute animal videos are safe anymore!! My aunt gave someone in our family a gift inside a bag with AI generated “art” for Christmas and me and my cousins were hecking losing our minds trying to explain why it's a bad thing (to which she said “It's cute tho” 😭)

I will admit however, that there are some good uses for AI like detecting cancer, or to help severely paralyzed people who can't speak, grammar correction and code correction, which is the only thing I use it for now (that and difficult math problems lol)

Basically my stance is:
AI can be useful but for the love of all that is holy, KEEP IT OUT OF CREATIVE PURSUITS!!

Also if you aregoing to include AI features in your product then at least make them optional!

Anyways this lowkey has become a rant post, so I'm gonna stop here now xD

PS: this nonfiction story by Robert Kingett about his writer friend who almost gave up on writing due to AI really helped me realize why AI shouldn't be used for creative works (even partially). Don't worry though, it has a happy ending!
